Welcome. My name is Michelle Vanessa O’Reilly, author of Journey to Acceptance. I’m so happy to have you as a visitor to my blog about my new book. This project is very special to me, and I hope to share some of that excitement with you here.
I’ll be using this blog to interact with you about Journey to Acceptance, expanding on some of the topics in it and blogging on some of the ideas related to my book. Wow! I went through many similar experiences. Except my son E. is a twin. It was also the hardest decision we had to make placing my son in a local group home as well in Florida. We could not visit our son either because of COVID when it was at it peak, a painful 6 months. Also, for his safety he missed out on school for about a year. We tried to face time to see him but it didn’t work. My son is also 18 and non verbal. It was hard not seeing him and visiting weekly. I can truly relate. We would get phone calls and deliver his favorites. Are you thinking of perhaps starting a face book or support group on-line? I think it would be great. Did you look at many group homes? I went through the process of APD with my son and there are many people who may not know the process or how to get help like respite, Behavior therapy and assistance with group home placement.
